Sworn & Certified Translation

Officially certified translations for immigration, academic credential recognition, court proceedings, notarial documents, and regulatory submissions. Certification requirements vary by country and purpose.

How this works

A sworn translation is not just an accurate translation with a stamp. It is a legal certification by a licensed sworn translator that the translation is a faithful and complete rendering of the original document, given under professional and personal liability. In Portugal, sworn translations are performed by translators officially appointed by the Ministry of Justice. For immigration purposes, the receiving authority (AIMA, the immigration and asylum agency, or an embassy) will typically specify which certification format they accept. For international use, an apostille may be required on the original document before or after translation. We handle Portuguese sworn translations through licensed sworn translators. For other jurisdictions, we work with certified translators in the relevant countries who are qualified to provide locally accepted certification. Before starting any sworn translation project, we confirm with the client exactly what certification format the receiving authority requires so that the document will be accepted on first submission.
