What we do (and what we do not)

need-translation was set up in 2015 on a simple principle: translation quality is determined by the translator's knowledge of the subject matter, not just the languages. There are many competent translators. There are far fewer who are also specialists in business law, chemical engineering, or regulatory compliance.

We do not take every project. Every project is assessed against the available skill set before it is accepted. If the specialist linguist for your project is unavailable within the required deadline, we tell you that and suggest alternatives.

We are based in Portela, in Greater Lisbon. We work with clients across Portugal, Spain, Germany, France, the UK, and further afield. All services are delivered digitally.

Our location

We are in Portela, in the municipality of Loures, north of Lisbon. Our base in the heart of Greater Lisbon's business zone means we frequently work with export-focused companies and multinationals headquartered in Portugal.
